Questions You May Have

Where are you located?

We are located at 151 South Hill Street in Toccoa, GA, just south of downtown.

What denomination is your church?

Officially, we are associated with the Southern Baptist Convention, the Georgia Baptist Mission Board, and the Tugalo Baptist Association. However, we welcome all members of the body of Christ from all denominations or none to come worship with us.

What happens in your 11 AM Worship Service?

In our Sunday morning worship, we have times of congregational singing using hymns mixed with songs that are more recent. Generally, our Adult Choir will also sing, as well as a soloist. One of our pastors will then present a message, or sermon, based on the Bible, God's word. During this time we will also worship through prayers, fellowship, an offering, and announcements.

What kind of music do you sing?

Although our soloists and choirs sing a variety of styles, our congregation sings a mixture of hymns and songs that have been written more recently.

Our singing is generally accompanied by the piano, an organ, and lightly played drums. Our choir and soloists will tend to use pre-recorded tracks.

What ages are a part of your church?

Our congregation is composed of young children to senior adults. There is a place for everyone on Sunday morning.

How should I dress?

Our members join us for worship dressed in casual to more formal attire, with all styles in between. Dress comfortably and modestly to fit right in.

Will I be asked to give money?

Although we receive an offering during our services and anticipate that our members will give generously to support our ministries, there is no pressure to give or any expectation that our guests will donate.

Should I bring a Bible?

We encourage everyone to bring a copy of God's word to church. However, Bibles are provided in the pews, and you may find others who use electronic devices to follow along with scripture readings.

Will I be made to feel bad or guilty?

Many of the messages or sermons our pastors share will be uplifting and encouraging. Some will challenge our hearts and lives. However, if the Holy Spirit convicts or challenges you in some part of your life, we see that as an opportunity for you to grow closer to God.

I have young children. Is there a place for them?

Although some parents bring their children into the sanctuary for our worship service, we also provide a nursery for very young children and a worship time designed especially for the other children.

Do you have other times of worship and Bible study?

Absolutely! We have an adult prayer and worship service in our sanctuary on Wednesdays at 7:00 PM. During this time, the teenagers, our 151 Student Ministry for Middle and High School, gather for their own time of learning and worship, while our children's ministry includes Adventure Kids, an opportunity for them to learn and grow.

We also provide a Bible Study time for all ages each Sunday morning at 9:45.

Why Should I Be a Nursery Volunteer?

  • You are investing in the Kingdom of God as well as helping to build and strengthen our church family.
  • To give parents of infants and toddlers the ability to be able to focus on the service.
  • Not only does this give you an opportunity to serve, volunteering also facilitates spiritual growth, strengthened faith, and a new perspective of God’s love and grace.
  • Because we work in pairs, you are able to fellowship with other volunteers, creating strengthened relationships with your church family.
  • Opportunity for prayer.
  • Men – We need you too! Children NEED Godly male role models in their lives.

“Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.” - Matthew 18:5

How does the church nursery benefit our families?

  • We provide a safe, caring environment with loving volunteers, so parents are free to focus on the service.
  • Your child will begin developing a foundation of faith in God and an early sense of church family while increasing their social skills.
  • Support for you and your families – Not only are our volunteers happy to pray over your child and family, but we are glad to share our lived experiences in raising children, so you know you’re not alone. It takes a church family!

“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these.” - Matthew 19:14

Jamie is the Nursery Coordinator at HSBC with over 20 years of experience working with babies through school-age children.

Jamie is married to Travis, and they have one son, Carson, and five dogs who are also considered their children.

Outside of church, Jamie enjoys martial arts, cooking and baking, crafting, hiking, camping, and watching classic TV – Her favorite is “The Andy Griffith Show.”
